Weekend Highlights 3-13-11

Hey Canyoneers!

I hope this message finds you well. This week we heard a message about how a Faith that works does not waffle.

What area in your life do you need more foundational support to keep you from "waffling" when the storms of life come?

"Love Week" starts March 27th-April 2nd. We have a goal of serving others outside the church for 150 hours that week. We can do this and we need everyone to be involved. You can use this as an opportunity to recruit a neighbor or a friend to help you. Maybe God will use the service opportunity as an opportunity for you to minister to them.

We also have a huge Easter Block party at the school on April 23rd from noon-2pm. Plan on being there and also helping by copying and pasting this link into your web browser:

or signing up at the welcome center on Sundays!

I hope you are enjoying your spring break!

Blessings,

Bobby

Weekend Highlights: 3-6-11

Let me just say this, I am pumped!!! This was a great weekend at FCC @ Stone Canyon. Friday night we set up and ran our sound equipment for a fundraiser event for the school that we meet in, they even let me EMCEE part of it! It was fun! On Saturday morning some of our people participated in the school's 5K race fundraiser as well!

Today was bananas! We had our largest crowd since August of last year when we launched. We had at least 5 visitor families that we know of, we had a great music piece of the worship service, but that's not why I am pumped.

I am pumped because today someone committed to growing spiritually. Today a family came to our membership/partnership class. Another family turned in their membership/partnership covenant. Today families began the process of baby dedication where we partner with the parents in raising their children to be children of God!

God is working in the lives of people and people are being drawn in to be a part of his Church. That is why I am pumped.

We made 2 huge announcements today in regards to our Love Thy Neighbor Initiative, I will write about these things next week!

If you are reading this and you have never been a guest of the Stone Canyon Campus, I personally invite you to come as soon as you can and see what God is doing!

Blessings,

Bobby

Weekend Highlights 2-27-11

There are many things that help turn a school into a worship environment every Sunday at the Stone Canyon elementary school in Owasso, Oklahoma. This week I want to highlight one particular thing.

Last summer during a core team meeting we were talking about inviting people and or life groups from our original, North Garnett Campus, to come over to the new Stone Canyon campus and help "supplement" manpower and energy through their attendance!

We had 2 life groups step up and commit to being partners with the Stone Canyon campus 1 week a month. These life groups come in, help us transform the school, they supplement some of our volunteer teams during the service, but what they do more than anything that matters, is they support the mission of God at Stone Canyon by showing up. Just showing up gives our volunteers a shot of energy! Just showing up produces energy in our gathering space and in the worship areas. Just showing up let's us know that they believe in us.

Recently another group has been helping once a month with setup and then they go home and get their family and go and worship at North Garnett.

Thank you so much to the members of the "Get a life" life group, the Adsit/Papp group and the Loewe life group! P.S we would love to have more groups follow their lead!

Weekend Highlights 2-20-11

This past Sunday was windy to the say the least. Outside of the school we have portable signage to help direct and welcome our guests. (By the way, we consider every single person who comes to the campus a guest, whether it's their first visit or they are a 30 year FCC member, all people are treated as VIP guests!) What we learned very quickly is that the signs make for a nice kite like toy when they are not anchored! We were able to find some flat rocks in the fields and put them on the sign legs to hold them down!

In life, the wind blows and the storms come, and if we don't have a firm foundation to keep us grounded we can end up in a tail spin, whirl winding around the planet!

What are some ways you keep a firm foundation?

We are challenging the campus attendees to do a few things to help build and keep a firm foundation.

1. Show up: worship with us on Sunday mornings during our celebration service
2. Get involved: serving on a team on Sunday mornings or during the week
3. Join a life group: it's a lot of fun!
4. Study God's word for life transformation: not just to get through it
5. Love others: be the hands and feet of Jesus

These are just a few challenges and not in any order of significance.

We know that we are stronger in when we have a firm foundation!

We hope to see you soon! We meet every Sunday at 10am in the Stone Canyon Elementary school.

Blessings,

Bobby

Weekend Highlights 2-6-11

Hey Canyoneers!

I hope you are finding yourself dug out of the snow in time for the next wave of blizzard 2011! This past weekend we joined with our family at the North Garnett Campus and worshipped together! God willing we will be back at Stone Canyon on the 13th!

We received many stories about you all loving your neighbors! Sometimes mother nature gives us obvious opportunities to love others, but remember, there are vulnerable people in our communities all around us. Often, we must look intently to find these people and situations, so keep your hearts, eyes, and ears open!

We have a lot of exciting things in the coming months at the Stone Canyon Campus, I can't wait to share with you in due time! In the mean time, check on your neighbors, stay warm, and be safe.

Blessings,

Bobby

Highlights: 1-30-11

Today was the 5th Sunday of the month. Every quarter this happens on our calendar. We take advantage of this and we call it "Family Sunday." We have our K-5th graders in with their parents for the worship service and then we do a lunch afterwards. Today we had a great turnout and we had our fastest tear down time ever! 25 minutes! Why 25 minutes? Because everyone joined together and helped out!

Today we announced that we are looking to add 5 more people to our Early Childhood team (birth-Pre K) and 10 people to add to our set up team. If you can serve one time a month during service in our Early Childhood area, please email stonecanyon@fccowass.com.

If you want to be a part of the set up team, we get there at 745am and are typically done inside an hour. We could use people 1 time a month or 2 times. You can also email stonecanyon@fccowasso.com to get on this team!

We have many great volunteers that help make things happen and we want to continue to build these teams!

See you next week!

Weekend Recap: 01-23-11

As we continued into the series "Faith Works" out of the book of James, God is challenging us with every message. This week we heard a great message about how Faith fights sin. We all have sin in our life, and we all have a way to fight sin, 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that we will not be tempted beyond what we can handle and that there is always a "way out."

We have to arm ourselves with the Sword of the Spirit, the spoken word of God. Is the word of God pouring out of your life? This is our way out of temptation! We can have victory in this battle!

We must put down our nerf swords and pickup our swords that God has given us!

Next week we will be having a time of fellowship as we have a campus connect lunch after the service! Don't miss it!
