Weekend Highlights 3-13-11

Hey Canyoneers!

I hope this message finds you well. This week we heard a message about how a Faith that works does not waffle.

What area in your life do you need more foundational support to keep you from "waffling" when the storms of life come?

"Love Week" starts March 27th-April 2nd. We have a goal of serving others outside the church for 150 hours that week. We can do this and we need everyone to be involved. You can use this as an opportunity to recruit a neighbor or a friend to help you. Maybe God will use the service opportunity as an opportunity for you to minister to them.

We also have a huge Easter Block party at the school on April 23rd from noon-2pm. Plan on being there and also helping by copying and pasting this link into your web browser:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/a/fccowasso.com/viewform?formkey=dEZuSDc0MHZua1l3RF9ySHotSGlaTkE6MQ

or signing up at the welcome center on Sundays!

I hope you are enjoying your spring break!

Blessings,

Bobby

Weekend Highlights: 3-6-11

Let me just say this, I am pumped!!! This was a great weekend at FCC @ Stone Canyon. Friday night we set up and ran our sound equipment for a fundraiser event for the school that we meet in, they even let me EMCEE part of it! It was fun! On Saturday morning some of our people participated in the school's 5K race fundraiser as well!

Today was bananas! We had our largest crowd since August of last year when we launched. We had at least 5 visitor families that we know of, we had a great music piece of the worship service, but that's not why I am pumped.

I am pumped because today someone committed to growing spiritually. Today a family came to our membership/partnership class. Another family turned in their membership/partnership covenant. Today families began the process of baby dedication where we partner with the parents in raising their children to be children of God!

God is working in the lives of people and people are being drawn in to be a part of his Church. That is why I am pumped.

We made 2 huge announcements today in regards to our Love Thy Neighbor Initiative, I will write about these things next week!

If you are reading this and you have never been a guest of the Stone Canyon Campus, I personally invite you to come as soon as you can and see what God is doing!

Blessings,

Bobby

Weekend Highlights 2-27-11

There are many things that help turn a school into a worship environment every Sunday at the Stone Canyon elementary school in Owasso, Oklahoma. This week I want to highlight one particular thing.

Last summer during a core team meeting we were talking about inviting people and or life groups from our original, North Garnett Campus, to come over to the new Stone Canyon campus and help "supplement" manpower and energy through their attendance!

We had 2 life groups step up and commit to being partners with the Stone Canyon campus 1 week a month. These life groups come in, help us transform the school, they supplement some of our volunteer teams during the service, but what they do more than anything that matters, is they support the mission of God at Stone Canyon by showing up. Just showing up gives our volunteers a shot of energy! Just showing up produces energy in our gathering space and in the worship areas. Just showing up let's us know that they believe in us.

Recently another group has been helping once a month with setup and then they go home and get their family and go and worship at North Garnett.

Thank you so much to the members of the "Get a life" life group, the Adsit/Papp group and the Loewe life group! P.S we would love to have more groups follow their lead!

Weekend Highlights 2-20-11

This past Sunday was windy to the say the least. Outside of the school we have portable signage to help direct and welcome our guests. (By the way, we consider every single person who comes to the campus a guest, whether it's their first visit or they are a 30 year FCC member, all people are treated as VIP guests!) What we learned very quickly is that the signs make for a nice kite like toy when they are not anchored! We were able to find some flat rocks in the fields and put them on the sign legs to hold them down!

In life, the wind blows and the storms come, and if we don't have a firm foundation to keep us grounded we can end up in a tail spin, whirl winding around the planet!

What are some ways you keep a firm foundation?

We are challenging the campus attendees to do a few things to help build and keep a firm foundation.

1. Show up: worship with us on Sunday mornings during our celebration service
2. Get involved: serving on a team on Sunday mornings or during the week
3. Join a life group: it's a lot of fun!
4. Study God's word for life transformation: not just to get through it
5. Love others: be the hands and feet of Jesus

These are just a few challenges and not in any order of significance.

We know that we are stronger in when we have a firm foundation!

We hope to see you soon! We meet every Sunday at 10am in the Stone Canyon Elementary school.

Blessings,

Bobby

Weekend Highlights 2-6-11

Hey Canyoneers!

I hope you are finding yourself dug out of the snow in time for the next wave of blizzard 2011! This past weekend we joined with our family at the North Garnett Campus and worshipped together! God willing we will be back at Stone Canyon on the 13th!

We received many stories about you all loving your neighbors! Sometimes mother nature gives us obvious opportunities to love others, but remember, there are vulnerable people in our communities all around us. Often, we must look intently to find these people and situations, so keep your hearts, eyes, and ears open!

We have a lot of exciting things in the coming months at the Stone Canyon Campus, I can't wait to share with you in due time! In the mean time, check on your neighbors, stay warm, and be safe.

Blessings,

Bobby

Highlights: 1-30-11

Today was the 5th Sunday of the month. Every quarter this happens on our calendar. We take advantage of this and we call it "Family Sunday." We have our K-5th graders in with their parents for the worship service and then we do a lunch afterwards. Today we had a great turnout and we had our fastest tear down time ever! 25 minutes! Why 25 minutes? Because everyone joined together and helped out!

Today we announced that we are looking to add 5 more people to our Early Childhood team (birth-Pre K) and 10 people to add to our set up team. If you can serve one time a month during service in our Early Childhood area, please email stonecanyon@fccowass.com.

If you want to be a part of the set up team, we get there at 745am and are typically done inside an hour. We could use people 1 time a month or 2 times. You can also email stonecanyon@fccowasso.com to get on this team!

We have many great volunteers that help make things happen and we want to continue to build these teams!

See you next week!

Weekend Recap: 01-23-11

As we continued into the series "Faith Works" out of the book of James, God is challenging us with every message. This week we heard a great message about how Faith fights sin. We all have sin in our life, and we all have a way to fight sin, 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that we will not be tempted beyond what we can handle and that there is always a "way out."

We have to arm ourselves with the Sword of the Spirit, the spoken word of God. Is the word of God pouring out of your life? This is our way out of temptation! We can have victory in this battle!

We must put down our nerf swords and pickup our swords that God has given us!

Next week we will be having a time of fellowship as we have a campus connect lunch after the service! Don't miss it!

Weekend Recap: 01-16-11

22 weeks. That's how old are campus is. If I am being honest, it feels more like 2 years and 2 weeks than it does 22 weeks! So much has happened in 22 weeks! This past weekend we had our largest crowd since early September. This is very exciting, but what is more exciting than this, is that it took us 21 weeks to launch our 2nd life group at Stone Canyon, and it only took us 1 more week to launch our 3rd life group! Many people have joined a group for the first time at FCC!

We are very excited about this because we aren't just a campus with life groups, we are a campus of life groups! We believe in what life groups are about!

We want people to come together and do 4 simple, yet powerful things!

1. Have fun together (get together and eat, it's the American way!)
2. Study God's word together (there is no greater road map to life!)
3. Pray together
4. Serve together (each other and others)

Please email stonecanyon@fccowasso.com e to learn more about how you can get involved in a life group!

Blessings,

Bobby Reed

Weekend Recap: 01-09-11

State of the church:

This weekend we got a great message from Charlie Curran, our Senior Minister, on the state of the church. We looked back a little bit to 2010 but we looked forward into 2011 and were challenged with how we can impact the kingdom this year!

1. We need to be reading our bibles
Many of us Christians simply do not read our bibles enough or at all. Remember, read you bible for transformation in your life, not just to get through it.
2. We need to worship
Worshipping God isn't something we just do on Sunday mornings, it's a mindset where God is the center of everything we do, not just the top of a checklist. As a church, we can do much more good for the kingdom together, and this starts with worshipping together during the weekend. Make it a standard that you are worshipping with the church family weekly!
3. We need to serve
This is simple, we need to be meeting the needs of those within the church and within our communities outside the church. Serving starts with our attitudes and our hearts.
4. We need to give
Generosity is the way to go! Be generous with your time, your abilities, and with your monies.
5. Invest and Invite
Acts 1:8 tells us to "Go and Make disciples." This starts with relationships right where you are! You don't have to be an expert to show someone you care about them!

God is doing great things through his Church globally and through his church at FCC, come be a part of it on Sundays at 10:00am as we celebrate what God has been doing in our lives!

2010 Recap

Wow! That is all I can say! I was recently looking at some photos for our Launch Weekend back in August. It seems sooooo long ago! After 4.5 months of being a launched church campus, things are going better than imagined! Why? Because God is in it, to win it!

Highlights:

1. Over 100 1st time visitors
2. new families have partnered with us
3. 632 hours of service hours given back to our communities through the "Love Thy Neighbor" initiative in a 9 week period.
4. Many new leaders are rising up in leading the way in ministry efforts!

We are so excited to see what God is going to do through the campus and through the people in it!

Remember, new service time is 10:00am on Sundays!

Happy New Year!

Weekend Recap: 12-19-10

WOW!

We had a great worship service this past Sunday! God is/was moving through our micro-church with a mega-vision!

Thank you to the dozens of VOLUNTEERS who pull of the weekend services and thank you to the many more who are being the church beyond Sunday morning worship services! Remember you don't go to church, you are the CHURCH!

Highlights:

1. We had many first time guests
2. The music worship team did a great job and the people sang loud from the seats!
3. Our Early Childhood team prepared our 3, 4, and 5 year olds to sing during the service and the kids did great!
4. We announced our new service time beginning January 2nd, 2011 for 10:00am!!!
5. We passed our God size goal of 500 hours of service towards others.
6. We have new families getting plugged into life groups!

Challenge:

This Christmas season, how are you going to continue to show God's love for people when the holidays are over and the parties have come and went, when there are no longer people ringing bells for donations?

Remember needy people, are needy all year round! Meet their physical needs and see how the Spirit of God may use you to meet their spiritual needs too!

Merry Christmas!

Weekend Recap:12-12-10

WOW!

We had a great week at the Stone Canyon campus! We had over 75 hours of Love Thy Neighbor time turned in! We had a great music portion of our worship service and the band brought lots of energy!

God continues to bless us with visitors and we have many families making FCC their church home!

After the service we had our fastest tear down to date and we didn't even have the usual help of a North Garnett Campus life group that we normally receive on 2nd Sundays.

God is moving in this place, lives are being changed, and he continues to reveal himself through his Church!

This coming weekend we will be making a HUGE announcement that you do not want to miss!

Weekend Recap 12-5-10

We had another great weekend of fellowship and worship services! We began the series "Christmas Stories."

How is Jesus' story going to intersect your story this Christmas season? Will you be hungry and ready to respond or will you wait and make excuses?! Open your heart to the voice of God this month, and remember sometimes God uses subtle whispers to speak into our lives! Don't let the noise of life drowned out the voice of God in your life!

FYI:

200 hours to go! We have eclipsed the 300 hour mark towards our goal of 500 hours of service towards others outside of the church family. Let's finish strong! If every adult at our campus would give 3 hours of service between now and the end of the year, we will accomplish this God size goal!! You can do it!!

Recently we rolled out an Electronic Newsletter that we will send out Bi-weekly. This will serve as another avenue to communicate and highlight things that are going on within in the FCC family.

Have a blessed rest of the week!

Weekend Recap: 11-28-10

This weekend we wrapped a powerful series called "How to Be Rich." (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
Hopefully you were able to be a part or all of this series!

After 15 weeks of having services at the Stone Canyon campus, God is still bringing visitors to the campus!

We had our fastest tear down ever, thanks to the "Get a life" life group from the North Garnett campus for coming over and making this happen!!

We have eclipsed 200 service hours towards our goal of 500 hours by the end of the year! We are 40% there, let's keep it up!!!!

Check out the link where you can read more about the initiative and you can also submit your service hours!

This week we will have a "LTN" opportunity through "Serve Owasso Day."

We are going to meet at the North Garnett Campus on Saturday December 4th, at 930am and send teams out to pick up trash in various location around town!

Have a blessed week and bring a friend to the Stone Canyon campus this Sunday as we begin a new series "Christmas Stories."

Weekend Update: Commitment Sunday

Today was commitment Sunday. This is becoming a big day at FCC. It's an opportunity for the people, who call FCC Owasso their church home, to commit to financially partnering with the ministry for the coming year. The benefit of commitment Sunday is helps us to plan the budget for 2011 but that's just a benefit! The purpose of commitment Sunday is to simply do that, make a commitment.

Committing to the ministry of FCC Owasso
Committing to the spreading of the gospel all over the nation and even the world!
Committing to baptizing new believers into the Church.
Committing to restoring broken or injured marriages.
Committing to obeying Christ by helping others to Know, Love, Serve, and Share him.

God is moving through the ministry of FCC Owasso, will you commit to being a part of this?
We need to give generously of all our resources: money, time, possessions, abilities, etc. to the Kingdom work of FCC!

Week Highlights:
We are more than 25% to goal on the Love Thy Neighbor initiative!
We had more 1st time guests today: Praise God!
We had a new volunteer sign up to serve!
People are signing up for the first ever Campus Discovery Class!

Weekend Recap 11-14-10

This week we had a great response to the food drive! Great job to the Stone Canyon campus! This is something that is periodically highlighted from the stage, but the reality is, needy people come to the office every day to pick up the food. We have given out over 1500 bags of groceries this year alone! Please continue to partner with this ministry through your faithful donations throughout the year!

Exciting Stuff:

This coming Sunday is what is becoming "commitment Sunday" and this is where families will make their financial commitment towards giving for the coming year. This helps the church budget for the coming year, but it also serves as a reminder of our commitment towards God!

Remember, we do not want people to put their name on their card when they bring it on Sunday. This commitment is between you and God!

We will also be receiving a message on "What's Next?" for FCC Owasso! You do not want to miss services this weekend as we talk about the future of what God has in store for FCC in 2011 and beyond!

Hope to see you Sunday at the Stone Canyon campus! 11:00am inside the Stone Canyon Elementary school as always!

Isaiah 55 Influence

Have you ever noticed the tag scripture of Isaiah 55: 9-11 on the blog?

In this scripture God says he "will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

The Stone Canyon campus lives on this scripture because God will reach people through the efforts of the church despite our weaknesses or mistakes! God gets to "have his cake and eat it to." Because as my 2 year old would say, "he is the maker of the Earth." Because he is the ruler of all things. Because he is the beginning and the end. Because he is sovereign.

If God can use Peter who disowned Jesus 3 times, if God can use Saul, an enemy of Christians, if God can use Moses the murderer, if God can use David the adulterer, if God can use any of these people, God can and will use you.

Will you let him?

Weekend Recap

The Stone Canyon campus turned 11 this week! We have been having weekend celebration services for 11 weeks! Some day we will be counting months and even years, as oppose to weeks!

After 11 weeks, our teams are doing a great job planning, preparing, and presenting worship services!

Some of you are "old school" and need to see some numbers to know how things are going. You could take my word for it, but I will appease you anyway!

Here are some numbers:

Over 100 people have visited and experienced the weekend service and many of them have returned!

3 families have become member/partners with the campus

We have had 1 baptism.

Every week over 70 people serve in some capacity in putting on the weekend service.
Through our "Love Thy Neighbor" initiative, we have served others a total of 46 hours after 2 weeks.

We have averaged 142 people each weekend service.

Marriages our being restored.

We have over 15 people leading ministries that were practically uninvolved previously!

Where do we go from here?

We will continue to develop new leaders in the Church.

We will continue to stream line the way we do things so that we can be the most effective and efficient ministry we possibly can.

We will have mindset of "loving" others that our community would cry if we up and left!

and lastly but most importantly We will seek to honor and glorify GOD in all that we do.

God is doing something HUGE through the ministry efforts of Stone Canyon and it's not too late for you to be involved in this movement of God!

Email us at stonecanyon@fccowasso.com to find out how you can partner with GOD!

Weekend Recap 10-24-10

God is still moving in 2010!

Today Liz and I took the weekend "off" and visited a local church in a neighboring city! It is good to occasionally visit how God is moving in other church and to learn some practical ways ministry can work! It was great to rest this weekend and re-energize!

Today we saw a church baptize at least 20 people, just in one service! This is a church that was started less than a decade ago with a little over 100 people and now they are having a global impact on God's Kingdom!

As we are still counting how many weeks we have been open at FCC @ Stone Canyon, it is inspiring and motivating to know that God is going to do great things through the ministry of Stone Canyon and have life changing impact on people's lives, possibly all over the world!

I want to give a shout out to the team of VOLUNTEERS that pulled off the worship service today in my absence (you pull it off in my presence too!) and I thank God everyday for being part of such a great team at Stone Canyon! I had no worries today because I knew the team would do great, we have great leaders and great volunteers!

Also a special thanks to the FCC worship ministry leader Tim Tibbles for filling in my duties this weekend!

FYI's

Remember to start planning your "Love Thy Neighbor" Projects and also go to

http://fccstonecanyon.wufoo.com/forms/love-thy-neighbor/

and fill out your project times! Our goal is 500 hours total for our campus by the end of the year! I will report our 1st total on November 7th so let' see if we can get 25% of the way there by then!

On October 31st we will begin a new series titled: "How to be Rich"
Pay close attention as it isn't title how to get rich! Most of us already are and we don't even know it!

In Christ,

Bobby Reed

Weekend Recap

Today was our 9th weekend of worship services at FCC @ Stone Canyon.

We were treated with live preaching from our Sr. Pastor, Charlie Curran.

The music worship was great and the teaching was challenging, yet simple.

Love your enemies! This might be one of the hardest things to do, but if we truly are follower of Jesus (and not just fans) we must obey this important teaching! If you want to have an impact on others in your life, pray for your enemies, love your enemies, and bless you enemies!

So before all of that, you must take the time to identify the enemies in your life!

After the service we had an old fashioned fellowship lunch and it was a great time to slow down and let people hang out!!!

Thanks to the Stone Canyon Pioneers life group for putting this on!

This coming week if you plan on coming out, you should bring a friend!
