Echoes From The Canyon is a blog that will give you a glimpse of what life is like leading the FCC Stone Canyon campus.
Do you remember your "home church?" For most of us we can probably remember our home church. We can remember the people who were integral pieces to our faith journey. We can remember the people that were there when a loved one died, a child was born, when we were ill, and many other critical life moments that we hold close to our hearts.
My home church is the First Christian Church of Owasso. For me, I can remember what FCC Owasso was like all the way back in the early 1980s. I remember Bob Driscoll pulling my loose teeth and giving me a quarter and Rusty Westerfield preaching the word. I remember getting baptized on Christmas Day when I was 9, children's choir, and of course the old fashioned revivals!
30 years later FCC looks much different. There is a new building at a new location, lots of new faces, and new ministers. But one thing remains- the DNA of FCC. FCC is a church that is committed to the following values: teaching & living out biblical truth, being a "kingdom" church, being a grace-filled church, loving family relationships, and raising up leaders.
It is the DNA of FCC that led the leadership after 102 years into FCC's history to open up a satellite campus on the other side of Owasso. This decision was made to expand the ministry influence of FCC in the community of Owasso and surrounding areas. I am honored to be leading the effort that is now known as FCC Stone Canyon as the Campus Minister! I am also honored to be a part of starting someone's future "home church." There are literally people right now who are far from God who will make FCC Stone Canyon their "home church."
What a great opportunity to further God's kingdom by starting someone's future "home church!" Will you join me?
