8-22-10

For many months, many people have been dreaming, planning, and working towards this date: 8-22-10

......and now it has come to pass.............

On March 1st I had the privilege to begin working at FCC as the Campus Minister for the Stone Canyon campus. The first task I had to accomplish was to recruit some people to be a part of a "core" team of people to bounce ideas off. We met every other week on Wednesday nights throughout the better part of the spring and summer. As we began implementing some of the strategies and decisions from core team, I had the task of recruiting volunteer ministry leaders for the following ministries: early childhood, elementary, 1st touch, set up and tear down, and a tech team for the adult worship area.

Looking back, we have found the perfect people to lead these ministries, God was indeed building this team. Adding these ministry leaders with our launch team of volunteers and we have a great mix of people to start the Stone Canyon campus. Well now we are launched and on our way! We will be intentional about getting people plugged in and serving in one of our ministries, we will be recruiting people to help with the set up and tear down teams. We will also begin planning opportunities for people to get involved in community service. On Sundays we are ministering to each other, encouraging each other, celebrating what God has done in our lives, but the rest of the week it's are calling to minister to others!

For Months we have been planning our 1st celebration service, and we will continue to meet weekly to celebrate what God has done through our lives. It is my prayer now, that we go and be the church, that we are intentional with our attitudes, actions, and thoughts towards others.

I want to give special thanks to the launch team, you know who you are! I want to give special thanks to those who committed their-selves to praying for Stone Canyon. I want to give a special thanks to the core team and ministry leaders: Robbie Brady, Paul Myers, Jake Follis, Nate & Amanda Cadwell, Michael & Lindsay Bippus, Stephen and Erica Ellis, Robyn and Jack Goodnight. I want to give a special thanks to Tim Tibbles and Sean Algaier for owning the worship and technology side of things. I want to thank Matt Thomason, Charlie Curran, and Mike Raburn for your support and leadership. I want to thank Owasso Public schools and Mr. Holderman for your support. I want to thank my wife Liz for her support and encouragement, and I want to thank anyone else I forgot! Most of all I want to thank God for the opportunity to join him in his mission!

The mission is why we are going to spend hours a week turning a school into a house of worship, the mission is why our team does whatever it takes! The mission is why we are here! The mission is the same mission that Jesus gave us nearly 2000 years ago. To go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit. Jesus came so that "they" might have life, and have it to the full.

Stone Canyon has launched, the date 8-22-10 has come and went. But Jesus' mission is remains! Love God, Love others, and be his witnesses!
